Typology

Face Pareidolia, or, The Faces We See

My typology was based on the psychological concept of Face Pareidolia, or, finding faces in everyday objects. I connected this with the artist Moyra Davey, who is renowned for her multi medium pieces of the accidents and objects in everyday life. She photographs her life through the objects that inhabit it and finding meaning through them. While she wasn’t looking for specifically faces in these objects, Davey was looking at objects and finding meaning that wasn’t inherently obvious prior, which is what I was aiming for in looking and finding faces.
